The American Association of Professional Technical Analysts is the premier place for accomplished professional technicians to engage in networking, open dialogue and thought-provoking get-togethers. AAPTA provides a forum for its members to share research and resources, exchange ideas on Technical Analysis and the markets, and facilitate the highest level of professionalism in our field.
Members share ideas and information through AAPTA's online forums, while the nation's brightest minds in the business speak at AAPTA's annual conferences. One-day brainstorming meetings also foster the intellectual development of our members.
Strict entrée requirements ensure that members are proficient and set the highest standards when it comes to professionalism and ethics. Our membership includes the sharpest minds among money managers, analysts, advisors and traders. All subscribe to the pursuit of sharing and improving the technical tools and data used to analyze supply/demand imbalances in the markets.
AAPTA applicants must have seven consecutive years of using Technical Analysis in their primary professional occupation, as well as the sponsorship of three AAPTA members. Applicants are then subject to a 30-day review period by the other AAPTA members as well as approval from the membership committee.
AAPTA's annual convention will take place in Atlanta, GA on May 3-5, 2012. As in the past, the convention will provide members with thought-provoking presentations, fine accommodations, and a chance to mingle with the best minds in our profession.
Specific details will follow in coming weeks. In the meantime, please set aside the dates on your calendar.

The MTA Los Angeles Chapter is hosting a special meeting on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 at McCormick & Schmicks at 5:00 pm as a tribute to our late friend, Larry Katz. Larry passed on the morning of April 11th, 2011. We have two very special speakers planned and they are Walter G. Murphy Jr.,CFA, and Fred Meissner, CMT. Walter publishes "Walter Murphy's Insights”, a commentary on the financial markets using Elliott Wave, cycles, momentum and, sentiment. Fred Meissner, CMT, is currently the publisher of the "Fred Report: Financial Research, Education and Data." Both Walter and Fred were long time friends of Larry Katz and it is appropriate they pay tribute to our friend. For more details, please see below.
